You don’t make a trip to Italy to be unimpressed… especially if you’re a quarter Italian and your grandmother was the sort of sturdy Midwestern woman who made baked ziti AND pot roast for family dinner, or recounted stories of ancestors who met untimely ends whilst harvesting olives back in the “old country.” But somehow, despite unreasonable expectations, Italy manages to outdo it’s own reputation.
